Luxardo Bitter Liqueur

Luxardo's red bitter aperitivo, first sold in Italy in the 1990s. Bitter herbs, aromatic plants and citrus fruits are infused separately, then blended to a family recipe, taking in sweet and bitter oranges, rhubarb, mint, marjoram and thyme.

Bright scarlet, with blood orange and ruby grapefruit on the nose. Syrupy sweetness offset by quinine bitterness, cherry and mint, finishing pithy and zesty. Quinine and sugar sit about where Campari's do, so it slots straight into an Americano or a Negroni.
