Lagavulin 16 Year Islay Malt

The great smoky statesman of Islay's south shore, and for many drinkers the whisky that settled what peat should taste like.

Lagavulin has distilled in its sheltered bay since 1816, running slow spirit through pear-shaped stills before sixteen years in oak. The whisky that emerges is intensely flavored, peat smoke laced with iodine and seaweed over a deep sweetness, full bodied, and finishing long on salt and sea air. Drink it neat or with a few drops of water, and use it sparingly where smoke is wanted, as the Islay float on a Penicillin or the base of a Smoky Martini.
