Del Maguey Vida de Muertos
A limited, higher-strength edition of Vida, drawn from the batches Paciano Cruz Nolasco and his son Marcos distill each autumn at San Luis del Rio and share for Dia de los Muertos. The palenquero selects it from the center cut.
Espadin of seven or eight years, roasted three to eight days over a mix of nine woods, fermented on wild yeast for eight to ten days with water from the Rio Hormiga Colorada, and twice distilled over wood fire. Medicinal smoked wood on the nose with basil, ancho pepper and char-grilled pineapple; herbal, salty and smoky on the palate with black pepper, roasted pineapple and blood orange.
